This is an exercise that will give you more power in your handle passes. Freestylers and wakestylers will be able to do faster handle passes and do them with more power. Also great exercise for learning your first handle pass.
And it's easy; just pull your hip to the bar. It's easier if you don't stretch your arms fully.
